Schwarzenegger To Put Nutritional Content on Restaurant Menus

In the news today, my governor, Arnold Schwarzenegger, signed a law that makes restaurants put nutritional content on menus. A lot of fast food places already provide this information in one way or another, but there are number of sit-down restaurant chains that exclude this valuable nutritional information.

The governator said, “I’m really pumped up about this…” I’d go further into the quote, but do you really care. As we know from Pumping Iron, when Arnold is pumped, he is pumped.

I’m excited by this. I really hope it becomes a nationwide trend. It’s been a long time coming.

  1. DR Says:

It’s kind of sad that it had to come to this (legislation - see Big Brother), but this could be a great opportunity for restaurants to increase their bottom line.

Assuming that we can trust the calorie counts on the menu, those numbers on the menu are going to impact people’s dining choices.

The restaurants that start offering “true” healthy options will flourish.

I wonder what would happen if restaurants in places other than NYC and California started putting calorie counts on their menus voluntarily?

  2. Kelly Turner Says:

I wish Washington would do this. I honestly can;t even trust waiters and waitresses most of the time when I ask them what is in something. The either get offended (um, pretty sure they just serve the food) or the stutter and make something up. Half the time the bring me coke when I ask for diet. what if i was diabetic?
