Er, sorry for the belated "thanks for the link". Actually I have discovered to my sorrow that there is basically only one secret to weight loss - eat less, exercise more. "Eat less" is open to interpretation - less calories, less fat, less carbs, less whatever - but that's simply it. I found when I weighed over 300 that it was easier to lose 20 pounds than it is to lose 2 now that I weigh less than 200. I'm sure if I was on the Biggest Loser I would be (a) the Biggest Loser and (b) losing 50 pounds easily. Water weight is easy to shed - converting fat to muscle is tough. The human physiology is not designed to shed that "hibernation fat."

Now that would be a show to watch! You might think it wouldn't have all of the drama of TBL, but I think it would stand up to it with everything that goes on in daily life...you'd just need the entire workplace of the contestant to agree to be in on it. ;)

While I do watch TBL, I realize it's like any other "reality" show, in that it's not based on reality at all. Give me a show where they have to lose all the weight while going to their jobs and dealing with the everyday stress that we all have to battle every day, and that will be a show worth watching.

Sue from Workin' on my Fitness is in the exact same situation; she recently lost her job and is using the opportunity to get in better shape.

Israel from Fat Man Unleashed recently put a call out for good sites with weight loss tips, and both the article and the thread have a lot of good links to excellent resources.

Hi! I saw your trackback and read, "I do find it motivating - for about a day"....for some reason that really gave me a good chuckle, in fact I'm still smiling over it. :) No, I'm not putting down the Biggest Loser (although I think they workout way too much), but I've felt the same way when watching the show....I get all pumped up and then like you, I forget about it a couple of days later. As long as we remember that it's a TV show, we can take the good points away from it, and leave the rest.

Thanks very much for the link, and all the best to you with your fitness goals! :)
