Unfortunately, if you are bald in the front, Rogaine will almost certainly not work (my stepmom runs a salon, so she knows these things). It generally works OK with that circular bald spot in the back that makes you look like a monk or you’re Jewish. I started losing my hair from the front in boot camp — when they shaved it off, it didn’t all grow back. That was also when I learned how lumpy my head was :p. Unfortunately, nothing cures that except hair replacement surgery. Fortunately, the hair loss stopped afterwards, and I didn’t have any more episodes except one quick spurt when I got married .

CJ’s right tho – Rogaine and similar products aren’t permanent – you’ve got to constantly take them. Nowadays I keep my hair cut pretty short, too, and it still looks nice… not as great as I did in high school, but respectable.

Problem with Rogaine, etc. is that you must keep taking it indefinitely; once you stop it, your hair returns to it’s original state.

My approach: embrace it. Just shave it shorter and shorter as it gets thinner.

"baldness cures"? Your thinking of it like a disease, and not a normal part of getting old. My hairline started receding when I was in my early 20's. Now I'm in my mid 30's and it's half gone. I haven't wasted any money trying to turn back time. You could just do what Jesse Ventura did; here's when he was governor, and here is what he looks like when he doesn't shave it all off.

If your father and grandfather are bold, it is probably in your genes.

High levels of testosterone can lead to hair loss.

Others things to check for are stress and lack of certain nutrients in your diet.

Excessive hair loss can be a signal that you need to check your thyroid.

Fungal infection can be responsible for hair loss. First thing I would do, go to my doctor and run some tests.

I think I will just bald gracefully. If my Dad is any indication, I should have a few more years before I worry about it.

I’ve never used any hair products like that before, but I have a friend that managed to settle on the perfect product for him when he started to bald and has been using it happily ever since. It’s called a Bic. Heheh.

man, i feel ya. I have been noticing over the last couple of years that my hair has been thinning in the front. It’s been driving me crazy. CRAZY I tell ya. do you really think rogaine will work? I have been dying to try it.
