Setting Health Goals for the Next Year |
Over at Lazy Man and Money, I’ve listed my 2008 Goals. Since some of those goals were health-related, I figure it’s best to write about them here. I have a lot of spare time right now - and if things remain that way, I’ll devote more time to exercise. However, if I have to get a full-time job, I’ll be forced to scale back on the gym time leading to a different goal.
My current body stats - I weight around 173.5 lbs. and my body fat measuring devices say I have around 20.35% body fat.
Goal if things remain the way they are - I’m not concerned much about the weight, but I’d like to get to 17% body fat. Stretch goal: 15% body fat.
Goal with a full time job - I’d like to get to 18.5% body fat. Stretch goal: 17% body fat.
I’ve already mentioned how I will measure my body fat. I’ll try to do at least a weekly weigh-in. My hope is to show steady progress and shave off a percentage of fat each quarter. By end of March, I want to see that fat number around 19.0%. By June, I hope to have it at 18.0. By October, I’d like to see it at 17.0%. Finally, in December, I expect to get it to 16.0%.

Hi Lazy Man,
Try to cut out fast food so that you can do less exercise if you get a full time jobs

Why are your health related goals so modest? Your loftiest goal is only to lose 8 pounds for the year? I suppose that is the lazy way, but I think you could be lazy and easily achieve the goal in six months.
Why would a full-time job keep you from going to the gym? Almost everybody that goes to a gym has a full-time job, that is how they afford to go. Perhaps I’m misunderstanding the time commitment your potential job may require.
I’m new to Lazy Man, but I’m enjoying the articles so far.

Your body fat loss sounds very reasonable and attainable. I think you can do it!
