Exercise for kids |

When most adults think about exercise, they imagine working out in the gym on a treadmill or lifting weights. But for children, exercise means playing and being physically active. Kids exercise everyday in gym class at school, after school at soccer practice, and even wrestling around the house with their siblings at home. It is important that kids are presented with ways to exercise everyday.
Everyone can benefit from regular exercise. A child who is active will develop stronger bone structure and muscle mass. Kids who exercise regularly will also have leaner bodies because they will have less body fat. Children who are active also will have a lower body fat and will be at less risk for childhood diabetes. In addition, children who exercise will have better cholesterol and blood pressure levels, and will even suffer less from depression or other mental ailments. Children who exercise more are also more likely to sleep well at night. They will also be able to manage tasks more effectively, like studying and doing homework or completing household chores.
Parents should try to ensure that their kids could do a variety of activities from the three main groups of exercises including: flexibility, strength training, and cardiovascular fitness. Kids who run on the playground or around a soccer field are exercising cardiovascular. Children who cross monkey bars or wrestle are improving their muscle strength. And finally, things like doing cartwheels and tying shoes can help improve flexibility.
Endurance is developed when someone regularly engages in aerobic activity (aerobic means “with air”). During aerobic exercise, the heart beats faster and a person breathes harder. When done regularly and for continuous periods of time, aerobic activity strengthens the heart and improves the body’s ability to deliver oxygen to all its cells.
The most important form of exercise for controlling a child’s weight is aerobic exercise that encourages endurance. These kinds of exercises include running, hiking, swimming, tennis, basketball, soccer, dance, football, baseball and many other activities kids love to do. Encourage your kids to spend more time physically active by keeping your TV off during warm daylight hours, especially in the summertime. If kids cannot sit in front of the TV they will be drawn outside where they can play and run and get exercise.
Getting a proper amount of exercise is extremely important for kids who are developing. It is every parents duty to ensure that their children get the proper amount of exercise so that they can live a healthy full life.
