One other alternative I just thought of - buy a few small cartons of long-life milk and when you go to bed, stick one in an ice bucket! Voila - the ice will melt overnight leaving you cold, fresh(ish) milk for your cereal the next morning! Discard whatever is left.

Can't the hotel provide you with a small amount of milk each day for your cereal? Or you could walk somewhere and pick up the amount you need for each day (i.e., a pint)?

Otherwise, as you've said, just keep a good variety of nuts and fruit around. Nuts are the ultimate snack food - I can't say enough good things about nuts! I eat 50-100g per day - indeed, it's the source of most of my fats - and reap the benefits, which includes effective weight control.

Don't waste your money on meal replacement bars; the benefits are negligible and measured against cost are almost non-existent.

I always haul a tub of protein powder (in a ziplock) as plain ole oatmeal makes me HUNGRY 5 minutes later.
Ill bring that stuff (in a smaller ziplock :)) to a breakfast meeting if need be.
DOUBLE ZIPLOCK (handy for trash later!) the tuna if you bring it as I learned the hard way...you can do chicken or salmon as well.
Im not a big fan of the envelopes in GENERAL but for travel? they're great.

The best kinds of fats are those that are natural and unaltered by human processing. The most beneficial fats are found in nuts, seeds, olives (including cold-pressed olive oil), fish, and avocados. The damage to any good, natural fat comes in how it is altered by humans to make it more palatable, marketable, or for better preservation.

For years we've been working to perfect the art of the economical in-room family breakfast. In the past we've considered adding hot water to instant oatmeal. But you have to have a bowl and so forth. But Food Network's Alton Brown has improved upon that notion with this simple, yet brilliant idea:

Do I have to keep vegetables cold? I've always put carrots in the fridge - same with lettuce and peppers. Maybe they don't require refrigeration.

No deletion necessary. I asked and you are as regular a reader (or at least regular commenter) as I have. There are lots of good advice in these articles, but some of it like the travel aspect only works for a short time. I don't think I can ice food all week. I could, but I don't want to risk it.

I completely forgot about tuna. That's a great food... cheap, full and protein, and portable.
